Just like any other culture, Haitian peoples have many beliefs and hold many values towards various aspects of their daily lives. These beliefs and values affect everything from their religious views, family and relationships, their health and their views on education.
Accomplishments for the Haitian culture vary but the most important is getting your education. The greater education you have, the higher of a "status" you hold in the social world. Beliefs Regarding Gender RolesMost Haitian families are very patriarchal. The men are viewed as the head of the household and the breadwinners of the family. The males in the household also do not care for the children since that is viewed as the woman's job. Some Haitian families also believe in polygamy. Although this is looked down upon by others, it is not completely unusual. Men usually tend to to start new families after realizing that one of their children from their first marriage was born with a disability. The men believe that the child's disability was a fault of the mother. For this reason, many Haitian children with disabilities belong to single mothers.

Family valuesThe majority of Haitians place great importance on family life. Family is something these people truly value and for this reason, most households consist of multiple generations. Every member of the family looks out for one another and the well-being of of everyone. Haitian families are constantly working together to complete daily life tasks. Most Haitians who live in America do not considered themselves to be solely one or the other but they live a life that intertwines the two cultures. For this reason, many Haitians will go back and forth between the two countries. Sometimes parents even decide that one will live in one country while the other lives in another.
Haitians are extremely proud people, they value their country, their culture, and each other.
